Rails Girls uOttawa January 30-31, 2015

Hello, Bonjour!

Want to learn to code?

Rails Girls Ottawa is a free two-day crash course programming workshop aiming to teaching girls how to build a website using Ruby on Rails.

What is Ruby? Why is it on Rails?

Ruby is a simple yet powerful programming language, and Ruby on Rails is a framework that can help you build web applications. Some apps that are built using Ruby on Rails include Github and Indiegogo.

Are you a girl in high school, college or university?

Rails Girls uOttawa is open to students from across Ottawa to take part in our two day workshop, with a focus on mentorship and bringing your ideas to life on the web!

Vous êtes francophone et voulez participer?

L'atelier technique sera offert en anglais seulement par contre, certaines de nos monitrices sont bilingues et pourront répondre à vos questions en français!

Be part of the first Rails Girls in Canada!

Sorry, applications are now closed, follow @RailsGirls_uO ! for updates on the day and future events!

Focus on mentorship: each high school student will be paired up with a college or university student for the workshop.

Why be a Mentor? Satisfaction knowing that you could help guide a high school student to a post-secondary education in the STEM fields.

Why have a Mentor? To learn from a university or college student who will share her insight about life after high school!

You will learn designing, prototyping and coding with the help from our coaches.

What you'll need: your own laptop, curiosity and a sprinkle of imagination! Don't forget your lunch.

Want to help? We are looking for volunteers and Rails coaches, as well as student ambassadors!
