How much does it cost? Nothing, it's free!
You just need to be excited! And you need to show up ready to learn.

Who is this aimed towards?
Women of any age with basic knowledge of working with a computer. We’ve had people of all ages take part. Please bring your laptop.

Can men attend?
Women are given priority, but men are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an interested woman.

How can I help?
Do you know Ruby on Rails? We’re also looking for friendly coaches. We will walk you through the curriculum at the coaches meeting on Friday after the Installation Party. Volunteer to coach.


Schedule: Friday, April 17, 2015 7pm - 10pm

7pm - 10pm

Installation Party

  • Bring your laptop so we can help you install Ruby on Rails and everything else you'll need using the INSTALL GUIDE.
  • Get a Sticker proving you are ready to roll.
  • Even if you already have everything installed please come and show a coach. We will be keeping track of who has gotten a completion sticker.
  • If there is no way you can make it on Friday and need help with installation make arrangements to come at 9am on Saturday. We want to keep exceptions to the bare minimum Please be respectful of our volunteer coaches' time.

Do These Tutorials BEFORE Saturday

Intro to Everything

You should have gone through these tutorials before the Saturday workshop so you can get the most out of your day. There will be coaches available at the install fest so feel free to ask questions. Or attend a study group for some help prior to the event for some one on one help.

Ruby
If you are brandy new to Ruby you should go through this tutorial: Try Ruby

If you haven't used Github you should go through this tutorial: Try Github

HTML & CSS
If you've never done html or css do these tutorials.

Register, find your seat, get your name tag, have some breakfast and meet some people.

Late Installations

If you are absolutely not able to attend the Installation Party on Friday we will get your computer ready to roll.

After we break up into small groups, your coach will help you get started on your first web application using the app guide


1 pm - 2 pm

Lunch

Reward yourself for a successful morning with some grub. Talk with your coaches and peers about how awesome your first web applications are. Vegan lunch catered by Margeaux & Linda's Vegan Kitchen.


2 pm - 5 pm

Workshop

Reconvene in small groups and extend your applications. Add commments, put it online with Heroku, or add design.


5 pm - 6 pm

Afterparty!

Reward yourself for a successful day with a tasty beverage and treats. Network and chat with coaches and peers.
